This is a first. The Miss Universe Pageant will have its first transgender person competing in the competition. A transgender back in 2012 was disqualified in the Miss Canada Universe competition, but that started legal debates which opened the door.

Spain's current winner is transgender and will now compete in The Miss Universe pageant. The contestant Angela Ponce who is 26 years old commented, "Society is not educated for diversity, it's what made me go public, I mean, here I am and I'm not weird, I just have a different story, a woman who came to life differently, but I'm a woman."

I'm guessing the TV ratings will have a huge increase or drop off, nothing average. More from Buzzfeed.
