The internet went crazy earlier this month when someone tweeted that her aunt charged them $30 for Thanksgiving dinner.

The online argument included everything  from the cost of cooking, cleaning, and ingredients to receipts and a cover charge for late arrivals who are only eating dessert.

Is this a new trend? Would you pay to eat Thanksgiving dinner at a family member’s house?
