Mick Jagger welcomed his eighth child into the world today (Thursday) when Melanie Hamrick gave birth to a boy in New York City.
His spokeswoman issued a statement saying, “They are both delighted… Mick was at the hospital for the arrival. Mother and baby are doing well, and we request that the media respect their privacy at this time.”
Hamrick, a 29-year-old ballerina, is 17 years younger than Jagger’s first child, daughter Karis.
Though he reportedly won’t be raising the boy, he’ll pay the mother five figures a month to do so. In addition to paying her an estimated $15,000 a month for the child’s upkeep, Jagger will pay for her to live wherever she desires. The New York-based Hamrick is said to be thinking of moving to L.A. or Connecticut.
Jagger fathered four of his seven children with model Jerry Hall, one with his ex-wife Bianca, one with British singer Marsha Hunt and one with Brazilian model and TV hostess Luciana Giminez. In the past, he has supported and been involved with all of his children, even those he didn’t raise. His child with Hamrick will be his first in 17 years.
He also has four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mick isn’t the only geriatric dad in the Stones. This past May, Ronnie Wood‘s wife Sallygave birth to twin girls.
