I was only half joking last week when I was talking about that 1985 Michigan loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes. I had a nervous feeling about the game like I had when they played MSU. That’s what happens when we get to certain age and look back on 45 to 50 years of sports. Stuff Happens.
The things I remember from 85? I hosted a viewing party with the old station, the Home of Rock&Roll, in Plymouth at a place called Plymouth Rock. Late afternoon start and the place place was packed and rowdy. Harbaugh and Chuck Long QB’s.
Michigan looked good most of the game but as we all know we lost at the end. Right up until that point the place was LOUD, on 11. While I was whipping up the crowd, here’s the good part, these guys would hoist up their Stuffed and Mounted Wolverine! It was mounted in the snarling position on a board on all fours and was kind of big. The crowd went nuts. By bringing that to the bar, they made it SO much more rowdy and fun! I wonder what happened to those guys.
