Word has it that The Rolling Stones will release a new album this year, and they may be getting close to making the official announcement.

A post on both Mick Jagger and the band’s social network pages shows a photo of harmonicas with the caption “Watch this space — #PlayingTheBlues.

We do know that the planned album is a collection of blues covers. Eric Clapton makes a guest appearance. And the release is tentatively set for December.

Producer, Detroit’s Don Was told the French newspaper Le Figaro that the album was “recorded live in just three days, with the musicians in a circle around the microphones. There was no retouching on the pieces, which means Charlie Watts bled through the microphone of Mick Jagger. The record sounds very crude, very authentic. It captures the essence of what they are.”
