For a time, the relationship between Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora appeared fractured. Sambora abruptly left Bon Jovi over three years ago — a shock to the band’s leader — but any strife between the two parties appears to have been mended following Sambora’s well wishes after the Jersey-born band released it’s newest single.

The two longtime collaborators even spoke recently.

“We just talked a week ago. Everything is cool,” Sambora told in Australia. “They’re on a different trajectory, I’m on a different path. Plus I wanted to go out and sing.”

Of course, anything but disdain between former bandmates will be met with hope for a reunion, which Sambora also addressed.

“Never say never,” said Sambora. “There’s no malice. People propagate a story that there’s problems. No. You spend 30 something years in a band. That’s a long time. Not a lot of bands had that kind of longevity. We weren’t a band who took any breaks. The Rolling Stones or U2 will take three years off so they have a life, we didn’t really do that ever. The 30 years we put in probably felt like 50 years.”
