This Windsor Teen Lost 100 Lbs. & Became a Social Media Star

By: Jon Corrigan

At just 13-years-old, Mackenzie Walker was 5’5″ and weighed 223 lbs.

The Windsor, Ontario native tells People.com a typical day would consist of drinking 12 to 15 cans of Coke, eating unhealthy junk food and, for a late-night snack, a 12-pack of tacos from Taco Bell .

“I didn’t really know the feeling of being full,” Walker, now 16, says. “I could eat and eat and eat.”

It wasn’t until her 8th grade graduation, and finding out stores didn’t have dress options for her size 22 frame, she realized it was time to make a change.

“Everybody got to wear the dress that they wanted for the graduation and I was just stuck with this awful peach-colored dress,” she recalls. “That kind of hit me, and I had one of those moments like, ‘Why did I let myself get here?'”

After her father underwent gastric bypass surgery in October 2013, Walker began eating smaller portions like him. She lost 50 lbs, but felt the diet was too restrictive and knew it wasn’t sustainable.

She started her own Instagram account, @pinkteenweightloss13, to track her progress and sought out help from other social media fitness experts.

One expert was Chris Jones, whom Walker credits with her success.

Combining exercise and a clean diet (read more here), Walker lost nearly 100 lbs.

In 2015, she had surgery to remove more than 3 lbs. of loose skin around her stomach.

Busting out a #transformationtuesday that I've been waiting to post FOREVER! (Wasn't able too because of the shoot lol, but we're all set now!!) Little bit of a cliche post, but I really never imagined that I would be doing 90% of what I am today. Anything I have ever said that I wanted to do…has been done..with time and patience, it was accomplished. I preach the same thing over and over because weight loss is EASY if you let it be. Fycking do your cardio, lift those damn weights. Don't give me excuses, if everyone else in that gym can do it even after a long day of work, family & social life, you have no excuse not to…unless you're medically limited to do so. KEEP YOUR DAMN DIET SIMPLE!!! You don't need to spend hours searching online for the perfect diet. When you're a beginner, you need to be in a calorie deficit…you don't need keto this, low carb that, etc. 3 small meals, 2 small snacks. Relearn the feeling of being full. Listen to your body. Cravings? That should be a daily struggle. Throw out whatever will derail you. Ask yourself if whatever you're about to eat will move you forward. If not, there is no point to it. Learn discipline. Be patient. 3 MONTHS MINIMUM to see results. This is a commitment, not a short 1 week diet. Get shyt done and put in the work day in and day out. Simplicity is what will get you through this, I can promise you that. Hold strong. 🌃 ONLINE COACHING, EBOOK AND MORE IN THE IG BIO 🌃
