Did you know that Shark Week began with a real shark attack? CBS reported that a 13 year old boy suffered severe injuries from a 5 to 6 foot shark at Neptune Beach in Florida, fortunately it’s not life threatening. Witness Lou DeMark describes the incident, “This lady runs in the water carries this boy. All you see is just blood, dripping and dripping out for about 50 feet.”

There was another shark attack the day before in California, and another one the week before in Florida.. This is after I just watched a documentary on increased shark attacks in the Carolina’s where I’m vacationing next week. Scientist have several theories why attacks are increasing, the most intriguing to me is the use of a new military heavy sonar off the coast to track submarines, which is theorized to push fish inland closer to the shore where sharks are feeding.
