David Crosby Pays Car Accident Victims $3 Million

David Crosby has been ordered to pay out $3 million dollars to the jogger he hit and the jogger’s son in March 2015. According to the initial report, Crosby hit the jogger while driving 55 miles-per-hour, which is the posted speed limit near his Santa Ynez, California house. Crosby said “he was blinded by the sun, and immediately stopped his vehicle after which, emergency responders airlifted the 46-year-old victim to a hospital.”

Ultimate Classic Rock reported that the musician will pay $2,950,000 to the primary victim, Jose Luquin, who Crosby’s struck with Tesla, and $50,000 to Luquin’s son, who was with his father at the time of the accident. According to Cal Coast News, “. . . the two men heard Crosby’s car approach while jogging, and the elder Luquin dropped back to leave more room for the vehicle to pass, but after he was struck, he landed in front of his son with ‘a broken leg, a broken arm, a broken shoulder, broken ribs and a damaged kidney.'”

  • In their suit against Crosby, the father and son claimed Crosby was intoxicated during the accident citing the crash as “a direct and proximate result of defendant’s compromised and debilitated physical and mental condition due to ingesting alcohol and/or prescription drugs and/or non-prescription drugs and/or other intoxicants and or hallucinogens. . . the defendant maliciously and oppressively operated his motor vehicle in a fashion that caused injury to the plaintiffs.”
  • It was Crosby, who had called 911 and the officers on the scene, and  California Highway Patrol spokesman J. Ortega stated that it was “determined alcohol was not a factor and there was no further investigation into alcohol or drug use.”
