There’s a feud brewing between KISS and Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx after he said Gene Simmons was no longer his hero.

Sixx called Simmons’s remarks about Prince’s death “heartless and uneducated” on Twitter and explained how that was the reason the KISS icon was no longer his hero. Naturally, KISS frontman Paul Stanley responded with his own message.

On Facebook, Stanley directed his post at Sixx. “Would you please shut up, find another way to be in the news and get off your self inflated pedestal,” Stanley wrote. Stanley noted that even he took issue with the comments Simmons made about Prince, but “his influence on musicians (you included) is undeniable and will continue.”

He added, “More importantly, [Simmons’] work, generosity and monetary contributions to numerous causes and charities for those less fortunate makes your ongoing rant, in the scheme of things, the unimportant but annoying squeak it truly is. Move on.”

This isn’t the first time Stanley has defended Simmons. He went so far as to add his own apology for his bandmate’s Prince comments, which provoked Simmons’ wife to call him out. Simmons himself later clarified his initial comments and apologized.

Showing his sense of humor, Sixx responded by posting a fan clip of a clown fight with the caption Gene Simmons/Paul Stanley vs Nikki Sixx.
