Bob Seger was Bruce Springsteen‘s surprise guest Thursday night when The Boss took The River tour to the Palace in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Sitting in the first row on the side of the stage, Seger was invited on stage by Steven Van Zandt while Springsteen was body surfing during “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.” Banging a tambourine, Seger helped finish the song and stayed on stage for “Shout.”

Springsteen and Seger have shared the stage many times, and this is their second time onThe River tour. The first time was on October 3rd, 1980 when the original River tour opened in Ann Arbor, Michigan. At that show Seger sat in on “Thunder Road.”
