Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood have always come across as two guys who you can hang with in a bar and talk about anything. Keith, in particular, has a soft side that is very evident in the latest interview clip posted on his website.

Asked what he would say if he could have one more conversation with his Uncle Gus, who introduced him to the guitar, Keith says, “Knowing our sense of humor, I’d tell him his guitar was a bit out of tune.” Those were Keith’s mother’s last words to him. As he sat by her deathbed, he played the guitar. She commented that he was “a bit out of tune,” and Keith agrees he was.

Doris Richards died from cancer at the age of 91 on April 21st, 2007.

In 2014, Keith wrote a children’s book about his late uncle called Gus and Me.
