2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Steve Miller has just announced a 37-date summer tour.

The Steve Miller Band, who have five spring dates on the books, will criss-cross the country starting on June 17th at Northfield, Ohio’s Hard Rock Live At Hard Rock Rocksino and wrap things up on September 4th in San Francisco, California at the massive San Francisco Festival On The Green at AT&T Park — with fellow Bay Area legends Journey, Santana, and the Doobie Brothers also on the bill.

The tour will make a stop at DTE Energy Music Theater on June 24th. Peter Wolf and the Midnight Travelers will join Miller and co.

As always, count on WOMC to offer lots of free tickets as we get closer to the date.

Steve Miller says that unlike a lot of his peers, playing the hits night after night is hardly a hassle for him: “I don’t mind playing those 14 songs as long as I get to do those nine songs that I want to do. As long as I can jam on ‘Fly Like An Eagle,’ or figure out a way to do something spontaneous — I’m fine. So, my show . . . I’m completely comfortable and happy and satisfied with it. And I don’t get tired of doing it. And I do it in moderation. Y’know, I don’t go out and do 350 shows, I do 50 shows.”

  • Although Steve Miller’s two most recent studio albums, 2010’s Bingo and 2011’s Let Your Hair Down won critical acclaim and were embraced by fans, Steve Miller maintains that delivering a smoking live show is first and foremost on his “to do” list: “I love performing. That’s what I do. Y’know, I don’t really think about the record business, or TV, or showbusiness, or any of that. I just think about the 50 cities I do every year that I love to go do. And I love to play and entertain my audience and I want them to have a joyous good time.”
