Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, and Lionel Richie were among the 5,000 family and friends gathered on Monday to honor and say goodbye to singer Natalie Cole, who passed away on New Year’s Eve (via CBS Los Angeles).
Memorial services for Cole were held in Los Angeles at the West Angeles Church of God, where Chaka Khan and Jesse Jackson was also in attendance.
Robinson said of his friend, “I feel so blessed to have called you my friend, and my buddy, and many times my confidante. You are so real and down to Earth. Now I have to say you’re so real and up to heaven.”
Cole passed away from a congestive heart failure following a 2009 kidney transplant that led to further complications and health problems. She was 65.
