Who would have suspected that Rick Springfield owns one of the world’s biggest collections of Star Wars action figures? He started collecting them in the late-’70s – some of them cost him as little as “a buck apiece.” They are kept in a closet inside plastic cases – for protection.

It’s a good thing they’re protected. Rick invited Rolling Stone in to check out his extensive collection and they checked with Sotheby’s (currently holding an online Star Wars Auction), who was very impressed. Rick has everything from common Luke Skywalker figures to Turkish bootlegs and a “Blue Stars” model so rare that it’s worth the down payment on a small house.

But die-hard Star Wars fans probably won’t be happy to hear Rick say that he’s not really looking forward to the release of The Force Awakens. He said “I actually like the toys more than I like the movies.”
