Sheryl Crow took to the debate stage on Tuesday (Oct. 13) night, in the only moment of the night that united all candidates—the singing of the national anthem.
As Crow belted out her notes, the candidates stood behind her on the stage. Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Lincoln Chafee, Jim Webb and Martin O’Malley placed hands atop their chests and readied themselves for the battle of words to come.
Crow, who identifies herself as a Democrat, recently told CNN that she was looking forward to hearing from the candidates as much as she was looking forward to having her own voice heard.
“I want to hear what everyone has to say and see where I fall,” she said. “I think most people know that I’m a Democrat. I’m fascinated with the process and I’m going to be excited to actually be there when our candidates debate.”
The debate was broadcast live from Las Vegas on CNN.
