Rick Springfield says Meryl Streep was “really brave” in learning to master the electric guitar and play a credible musician in the movie Ricki and the Flash.

The ’80s teen idol and the three-time Oscar winner co-star in the movie, which opens August 7. Springfield says the unlikely duo found their rhythm onstage while performing together.

The movie‘s trailer features Streep and Springfield performing “Drift Away,” while its soundtrack album also includes the film’s fictional band covering “Wooly Bully,” “American Girl,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Lookin For” and “Get the Party Started.” (The Hollywood Reporter)
