Joe Walsh has announced a 15-city solo fall tour. Walsh, who’s been wrapped up with Eagles duties over the past couple of years, will be hitting theater-sized venues backed by a band featuring longtime collaborator and Barnstorm member, keyboardist and drummer Joe Vitale. Joining the pair will be Gannin Arnold on guitar, Tommy Simms on bass, and Drew Hester on drums. Walsh and the band kick off the predominately Eastern seaboard dates on September 18th in Warren, Ohio at W.D. Packard Music Hall and wrap things up just under a month later on October 17th at Boston, Massachusetts’ Orpheum Theater.

Walsh posted a note to fans about the tour on his official website (JoeWalsh.com), saying: “I’m going back in the catalog to dig out some songs that I haven’t ever played live, but everything everyone’s coming to hear will also be in the show. I’ve got a great band and I’m excited to play with my old friend Joe Vitale again. I also love being able to go into smaller venues. I’ve missed it. . . The interaction with the audience is much better, everybody has a good seat and it reminds me of the old days. I think I play my best in a small venue when the bass drums are kicking me in the pants. I’m really looking forward to it all.”

  • Joe Walsh has made no secret that’s he’s been recording recently with some heavy hitters — including Mick Jagger and brother-in-law, Ringo Starr“Yeah, I am. I don’t know the timeline on it. I went in with some of my favorite people for a week and I’ll say loosely started a blues album. People like Dr. John and Jim Keltner and Robert Randolph and Keb’ Mo’ — and Tal (Wilkenfeld), who’s Jeff Beck’s bass player; she’s like 23 and amazing. So we went in and just kind of went through some real obscure R&B and some blues songs.”
  • Walsh says that for the most part, barring some studio tweaking, the album is essentially done: “I got that in the can — I got about 12 tracks. And it’s really good. And my thought was maybe go out and play jazz festivals in Europe — with that lineup — when the album comes out. So, that’s loosely a concept for the next Joe Walsh thing.”
  • The Eagles wrap their 2015 dates tomorrow night (July 29th) in Bossier City, Louisiana at CenturyLink Center.
