At the tail end of June, Nina Simone received a tribute in the form of the Netflix documentary What Happened, Miss Simone? With it came a sprawling sonic homage, a 16-song soundtrack featuring the likes of Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Lisa Simone and Jazmine Sullivan, to name a handful.
Now you can officially stream the soundtrack on its own via NPR.
On Nina Revisited… A Tribute to Nina Simone, you’ll find Hill’s passionate reworking of “Feeling Good,” which she first debuted with the note, “Because I fed on this music, both hers and lovers like her, like my basic food, I believed I always had a right to have a voice. Her example is clearly a form of sustenance to a generation needing to find theirs. What a gift.”
