The Rolling Stones perform at Comerica Park in Detroit next Wednesday, July 8. Win tickets for the show all weekend long plus we’ll be giving away suite tickets for the event this coming Monday and Tuesday.
Meanwhile, The Stones will be the subject of a major exhibition at London’s Saatchi Gallery from April to September next year.
The ambitious Exhibitionism will spread more than 500 artifacts from the band’s archives across two floors. The interactive tour through the band’s 50 years uses stage designs, dressing room and backstage paraphernalia, guitars and other instruments, costumes, audio and video, personal diaries and correspondence and original poster and album cover artwork.
Mick Jagger says, “We’ve been thinking about this for quite a long time but we wanted it to be just right and on a large scale. The process has been like planning our touring concert productions. I think that right now it’s an interesting time to do it.”
Keith Richards adds, “While this is about The Rolling Stones, it’s not just about the members of the band. It’s also about all the paraphernalia and technology associated with a group like us, and it’s this, as well as the instruments that have passed through our hands over the years, that should make the exhibition really interesting.”
A short video promoting it has the reserved Charlie Watts front and center, explaining the exhibit dressed in one of Mick’s stage costumes.
Although opening day for the exhibition is still nine months away, tickets go on sale Friday, July 10th, at StonesExhibitionism.com.
