Marvel Entertainment announced that principal photography has begun for next year’s Captain America: Civil War.
The film will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who helmed the last Cap movie, Captain America: Winter Soldier. But a brief look at the cast makes it look more like an Avengers flick than one that focuses simply on the team’s leader.
Per a press release, Chris Evans will return in the title role, but the film will also feature Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.
There will also be a number of other heroes in the film. Sebastian Stan will reprise his role from Captain America: Winter Soldier as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, as will Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon. Don Cheadle will also return as Jim Rhodes/War Machine, which he played in the last two Iron Man films. And [spoiler] both Falcon and War Machine are likely members of the new version of the Avengers.
