As the clock counts down to David Letterman’s last episode of The Tonight Show, the TV host has been calling in favors to have some of his favorite guests stop by. One of those is John Fogerty, the frontman of Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Last night Fogerty treated the audience to a non-stop stream of hits. Taking the stage with a blue plaid guitar and matching shirt, Fogerty blazed through a medley of classic CCR tracks like “Travelin’ Band,” “Proud Mary” and “Fortunate Son.”
“Proud Mary” felt especially appropriate as Fogerty pointed out the similarity of the song’s lyrics to Letterman’s current position. “Left a good job in the city, working for the man every night and day,” he sang as he gestured to the host.
