Beach Boy Brian Wilson will play the Fox Theater in Detroit July 5th

2015 is definitely turning into Brian Wilson’s year. His new album, No Pier Pressure, is out on April 7th and has already garnered the Beach Boys‘ creative genius the hottest buzz surrounding a new work in years — and the rave reviews are still rolling in for his upcoming biopic, Love And Mercy, coming on June 7th. In addition to an 18-date theater and shed tour this spring and summer with fellow Beach Boys Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin, Wilson and his crew have also just announced an eight-date UK arena tour — playing some venues even bigger than where the reunited Beach Boys performed back in 2012.

Brian Wilson admitted that hearing his classic works from the ‘60s inspires him today — just the way that it still inspires his fans: “When I hear ‘California Girls’ it inspires me a lot. Y’know, they were cut fresh and the vocals were timeless, y’know what I mean? In, like, 200 years from now, you could play a Beach Boys record, or a Phil Spector record, or a Rolling Stones record and it’ll sound just as fresh.”

  • On Monday (March 30th), Brian Wilson will be honored with a star-studded tribute dubbed “Brian Fest” at L.A.’s Fonda Theatre. The tribute, which is part of the ongoing Best Fest benefit series, raises money for Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.
  • Wilson, along with Al Jardine, will participate in the show, along with Ann Wilson of Heart, Boz Scaggs, Wilson Phillips, Norah Jones, Brandon Flowers,Wayne Coyne and Steve Drozd of the Flaming Lips, Doyle Bramhall II, and many more.
