Peter Frampton and Gibson guitars will be trimming up for signature line of Les Paul’s, which replicate the legendary guitar Frampton – worshipped, then lost for decades. Frampton posted on his Facebook page: “The Gibson Custom shop in Nashville and I are currently working on a clone of my long lost Les Paul, ‘The Phoenix.’ It will be a limited run and will be exact in every way. The scars left by the plane crash and 30 years of AWOL will all be part of each guitar.” There’s been no street date set for guitar line.

Frampton chronicled the return of his beloved Les Paul “Black Beauty” in the recent DVD spotlighting his recent Frampton Comes Alive 35 tour. Back in 2011, thanks to two die-hard fans in the Caribbean and the Netherlands, Frampton was reunited with his legendary Frampton Comes Alive guitar — 31 years after it went down in a cargo plane while bringing his gear to a show in Panama. Frampton first played the guitar publicly during his 2012 New York City stop — but only for one tune — his 1973 classic, “Do You Feel Like We Do.”
