"All you’ve got is a girl with high cheekbones."

Joni Mitchell is no Swiftian—that much was confirmed when a new interview with the legendary singer-songwriter described a failed attempt to make a movie about her, Carole King and Carly Simon.

The movie was to be an adaptation of Sheila Weller’s book Girls Like Us. The three singers were to have been portrayed by Jessica Pare (Mad Men) as Simon, Alison Pill (The Newsroom) as King, and the new queen of New York, Taylor Swift, as Mitchell.

That last one was a step too far. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Mitchell describes why she chose to put put the kibosh on the project.

“I squelched that!” Mitchell said. “I said to the producer, ‘All you’ve got is a girl with high cheekbones’. It’s just a lot of gossip, you don’t have the great scenes. There’s a lot of nonsense about me in books, assumptions, assumptions, assum­p­tions.”
