Adele, One Direction, Bono Lead Band Aid 30 to Raise Money for Ebola Crisis in Africa with New Version of ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’

In 1984, Bob Geldof and Midge Ure created the super-group project Band Aid to help Ethiopian poverty, releasing the charity single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” The song would reach No. 1 on the charts, including the prestigious UK Christmas Number One, and featured the likes of U2‘s BonoGeorge MichaelPhil CollinsPaul McCartney, and many others.

Since, the project has been revived for Band Aid 2 in 1989 and Band Aid 20 in 2004, and now will return for Band Aid 30 in 2014.

Band Aid 30 has booked AdeleOne DirectionBonoChris MartinEllie GouldingEd SheeranSam SmithElbowBastille, and more for a new charity single, delivering an updated version of “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” with altered lyrics to address the current Ebola crisis in West Africa.
