This week in 1987, ABC aired the last episode of Max Headroom. Head Of Class with a young Johnny Depp was an up and coming TV hit. Fatal Attraction was #1 at the box office, and Tiffany became the youngest act to score a US No.1 since Michael Jackson with ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’.
The song was originally recorded by Tommy James & the Shondells in 1967 and written by Ritchie Cordell.
Tiffany told Billboard magazine in a 2011 interview: “When I heard that my hit song had went #1, I was washing dishes. I was doing my chores because I was a teenager, of course. My manager called me and said ‘Congratulations, you have the number one single in the country.’ I said, ‘You know what? I have to get off the phone because I have to finish my chores otherwise I’m going to be busted and I won’t be able to do anything.’ And, he’s like, ‘You don’t get it’… but I had to finish those chores.”
in 1988, she toured with New Kids on the Block as the opening act for her concert tour. During that tour she began a relationship with New Kids member Jonathon Knight.
Tiffany opened her own vintage store Tiffany’s Boutique in Tennessee in 2012.
