Dhani Harrison bears a striking resemblance to his father, George Harrison, both physically and with his singing voice. So, it’s understandable that he’s worked hard to establish himself as an artist in his own right. He’s a member of two bands, neither of which use his name: thenewno2 and Fistful of Mercy (the latter being a supergroup of sorts, also including Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur).
But last night he channeled his father during a performance that was part of Conan‘s week of George Harrison tributes.
Backed by a band that included Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins, Killers bassist John Stoermer, Jonathan Bates of Big Black Delta and Conan’s house band leader Jimmy Vivino (who is also a member of Beatles cover band the Fab Faux).
The first song they performed was from George’s 1970 classic All Things Must Pass, “Let It Down.”
