Neil Diamond has a special treat for his hometown fans. The Brooklyn, New York legend — who says he’s never performed in the borough where he grew up — will do a “secret concert” at 6 pm on September 29th. According to WCBS-TV, Diamond won’t reveal the location until 8 that morning, with on his Twitter and Facebook pages. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee has posted a preview video for his upcoming album, Melody Road. It leads off with a folk-blues ballad called “Nothing but a Heartache.” There are also behind the scenes features on the making of that song and another, “The Art of Love.” Finally, there’s a (we’re guessing late-’60s) video of “Solitary Man.” Apparently recorded for TV, it has Diamond singing live to a recorded music track.

Melody Road, Diamond’s first album for Capitol, drops October 21st.
