Ringo Starr: A Lifetime of Peace and Love, a benefit tribute concert for the former Beatles drummer filmed January in L.A., is coming to TV. Ringo received an award from host director David Lynch on behalf of the David Lynch Foundation, which promotes transcendental meditation, and video tributes form Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono.

AXS will air the concert on July 13th at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT. It features an all-star house band of Don Was on bass; Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench; guitarists Peter Frampton and Steve Lukather of Toto; and drummer Kenny Aronoff backing a succession of singers that include:

  • Joe Walsh performing “Back Off Boogaloo”
  • Ben Folds – “Oh My My”
  • Ben Harper – “Walk With You”
  • Betty LaVette – “It Don’t Come Easy”
  • The Raconteurs Brendon Benson – “Don’t Go Where The Road Don’t Go”
  • The Head and the Heart – “Octopuses Garden”
  • Ark Life‘s Giles McWilliams – “Can’t Do it Wrong”

Starr closes the concert by performing “Boys,” “Photograph” and a version of “A Little Help from My Friends,” featuring not only the entire ensemble, but a host of stars who were in the audience, including Jim CarreyEric BurdonJeff LynneSheila E and Edgar Winter.

Ringo will celebrate his 74th birthday on Monday by hosting a public gathering in front of the Capitol Records Building in L.A. At noon PT, he’ll ask attendees to join him in a “Peace and Love moment.”
