Baseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith is leading the charge of people who want to see opening day of the season declared a national holiday.

“The Wizard,” with the backing of Budweiser, has begun a campaign to collect 100-thousand signatures in 30 days for a We the People petition. 100-thousand signatures is what’s needed to get President Obama to consider it. Smith says, “Coming from St. Louis, of course being such a baseball town, it’s sort of an unofficial holiday, Opening Day, so they thought it would be a good idea for Mr. Smith to just take a trip to Washington.
