England’s Uncut recently interviewed the three original, surviving members of the Kinks: Ray Davies, Dave Davies, and Mick Avory. According to the magazine,, Ray and his brother, Dave, met up this last August and discussed the possibility of coming back together for a 50th anniversary reunion. “I said to Ray, I thought it’d be a great shame if we don’t try and do something,” said Dave.

All three feel pretty positive about the potential of rejoining. “It’s as close as it’s ever been to happening,” says Ray Davies. If they do decide to have this reunion, they better start getting back together soon because “we haven’t played together for god knows how long,” says Mick Avory “we’d have to knock our heads together and rehearse if we mean to do it properly.”

According to another British publication, NME, Ray said “I’d like something good to come out of it, not something sad… I’d like to do something sensible, artistic and dignified. There’s every possibility it could happen, if people behave. Or misbehave at the appropriate moment.”

Last year, Dave Davies told Radio.com that he was optimistic that he’d be doing something with his brother: “I’m not sure about a tour, but I think we’re going to try and do something. We talked about doing maybe a couple of songs. I’ve written a few songs with that in mind.” When discussing working with Avory again, he was lukewarm on the subject, saying, “I want to move forward. I want to maybe get my son Daniel involved. He’s a great guitar player and singer. There was even talk at one point [about working with] my son Russ Davies… we talked about maybe Russell producing.”
