Aretha Franklin will be in New York today to appear on CBS’ “The Talk”. According to The Detroit News, the Queen of Soul will then return home to prepare for her first full-length concert since undergoing medical treatment during the summer.
The December 21st show at the Motor City Casino will likely include some special guests. Franklin told the “News” that she has reached out to Anita Baker and B.B. King, as well as ballerina Misty Copeland of the American Ballet Theatre. Franklin might preview her upcoming album of classic covers, dropping in song or two from her studio project.
Away from the music, Franklin is interested in opening a chicken and waffles restaurant in downtown Detroit. She says she has scheduled a meeting with Quicken Loans head and prominent real estate investor Dan Gilbert.
Franklin’s 2014 will include a pair of January shows at New York’s Radio City Music Hall as well as more work, including casting decisions, on her long-planned bio-pic.
