In an effort to break a Guinness world record, a group organized a flotilla of 2,099 of the vessels in Sutton’s Bay. The event has been submitted to Guinness World Records for official confirmation. The old record was 1,902 kayaks and canoes set in New York state back in September of 2011. One of the organizers said in the UPI story, “We think we did it. Even if a few of the boats don’t count because they weren’t rafted and were free-floating, we expect we will have more than enough.” The rule states that each of the vessels to be touching each other for at least 30 seconds.
