Mitch Ryder/Ty Stone To Open For Springfield, Dennis DeYoung Ill

Detroit, MI, July 11, 2013 –The Detroit Yacht Club, hosting its first-ever outdoor concert in its 145-year history, has announced a line up change to tonight’s show with headliner Rick Springfield.  Mitch Ryder and Ty Stone will now be the opening acts, replacing Dennis DeYoung, who has been ordered not to travel by his doctor due to medical reasons.

“The Detroit Yacht Club family extends best wishes for Dennis and his family,” said Scott Allen, Commodore, Detroit Yacht Club.  “Given the last minute nature of this change, Mr. DeYoung reached out to some of his friends in the music business and we are happy to announce Detroit’s own Mitch Ryder and Downriver native Ty Stone will join us tonight.”

Mitch Ryder is a legend in the Detroit music scene.  Born and raised here, Ryder has been called the unsung hero of Michigan rock and roll, and has influenced such performers as Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen and John Mellencamp.  Ryder scored a top ten hit with “Devil With a Blue Dress On” and also did a cover version of Prince’s “When You Were Mine.”

Atlantic recording artist and powerhouse singer Ty Stone will open the show.  The country rocker most recently performed to rave reviews with Don Was and the Detroit All-Star Jam at the Concert of Colors in Detroit.  Originally from Lincoln Park, Ty Stone was flipping burgers before being discovered by future label mate and music superstar Kid Rock.

“We are saddened Dennis DeYoung cannot join us at our concert, kicking off the Gold Cup Races weekend,” added Allen.  “However, concert goers will be treated to three outstanding nationally known acts and we are grateful Mitch Ryder and Ty Stone could join us at the last minute.”

Grammy winner Rick Springfield will continue to headline the show, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.  Springfield has sold 25 million albums and has 17 top 40 hits, including “Jessie’s Girl,” which hit #1 on the charts.

Tickets are still available for tonight’s show at or at the door.  VIP ticket packages are available as well.  Call 313-824-1200 for information.
