Breakfast at Tiffany’s opened on Broadway March 20 and we told you that one of the stars,Vito Vincent, is playing the diva, negotiating with producers to get a car and driver each night. Vito Vincent is the orange cat owned by Holly Golightly (who was played by Audrey Hepburn in the film version). Meanwhile his understudy, Montie, has been sacked for being “unruly,” and producers are scrambling to have his head shot and bio replaced in the Playbill. Because all orange cats look very different.
Vito did deign to attend the show’s opening night bash and a show rep said, “We will not comment on specific requests, but the producers have made every effort to treat Vito like the star that he is. The production is saddened by Montie’s dismissal and wishes him well.”
Well, after clawing his way to rave reviews, Vito Vincent has been abruptly let go. Sources say it was Vito’s diva demands that were to blame. In addition to the car and driver Vito also wanted to do fewer than eight shows per week. Tabby understudy Chessie has taken Vito’s coveted role.
These cats are making Jennifer Lopez look easy to deal with!
