Documentary: History Of The Eagles, Part One

Part One of a two part  documentary detailing the ups and downs of, arguably, one of the most popular American bands in history, the Eagles, made it’s public debut this past weekend at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City Utah.

The band partnered with Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room) to shoot the doc, which features interviews with the current members of the band (drummer/singer Don Henley, guitarist/singers Glen Frey and Joe Walsh and bassist/singer Timothy B. Schmit) and also former guitarists Don Felder and Bernie Leadon and ex-bassist Randy Meisner.

The documentary is scheduled to air on “Showtime” beginning February 15th and 16th.   The cable network has a monthlong window to air the “Part One” and “Part Two” and it will be released on DVD as early as March 19. The DVD package will be three discs, the two documentaries plus eight full song performances shot during the 1977 “Hotel California” tour.

The debut at “Sundance” featured a Q & A session with the band and the film’s directors.  Detroit’s own Glenn Frey, told Billboard Magazine during the interview that the band WILL tour: “We’re looking to go back on the road and do some shows soon, maybe incorporate some footage along the way make it a little more informative as we go through our catalog, but we haven’t made any specific plans about when we’re going to start.”
