As you know, tomorrow is 12-21-12 which, according to the Mayan Calendar, is the last day of recorded history. The Mayan calendar moves in cycles with the last cycle ending in December 2012.  Many interpret that to mean the world will tomorrow at exactly 11:11 Coordinated Universal Time.  The last day of the Mayan calendar corresponds with the Winter Solstice, which has played a significant role in many cultures all over the world.

The Maya didn’t invent the calendar, it was used by most cultures in pre-Columbian Central America – including the Maya – from around 2000 BC to the 16th century. The Mayan civilization developed the calendar further and it’s still in use in some Maya communities today.

What you may not know is that the people in Bugarach, France believe they are immune and that space aliens are expected to pick them up and keep them safe.  Apparenty they also know the  leverage they have and the pressure people are under to survive the apocalypse and are charging $1,600 per night for hotel rooms, $20 for a bottle of water and $500 for camping site rentals.  Seems like a small price to pay to avoid the coming end of times!

You can pass the time awaiting the rapture by listening to some of your favorite apocalyptic songs here.
