The second of 5 official 50th anniversary tour dates for the Rolling Stones takes place tonight at London’s O2 Arena.  Tonight’s special guests have been announced and they are Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine and the legendary rock icon Eric Clapton.

The first Stones concert took place this past Sunday, also at the O2, and featured former Stones members Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor along with Jeff Beck and Mary J. Blige.

There are 3 more concerts scheduled for the tour.  December 8th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York and December 13th & 15th at the Prudential Center in Newark New Jersey.

The last time the Stones toured was from August 2005 to August 2007. “The Bigger Bang Tour” came to Detroit’s Comerica Park August 31st 2005.  The Stones also performed the halftime show at Super Bowl XL at Detroit’s Ford Field.

There has been speculation that the current 50th Anniversary Tour, “GRRR”, might be expanded and I don’t think the Stones have ever skipped the Motor City!  Stay tuned!

As we look forward to Eric Clapton’s performance with the band tonight, here’s what “Slowhand” thinks of the Stones:
