Garth Hudson has just joined the bill for next week’s “Love For Levon,” the concert paying tribute to his late Band-mate, Levon Helm. Last week, a press release announced that Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters would be the last addition to the bill, but today the news came that Hudson, as well as blues-rocker Grace Potter will be joining the bill. Also added: singer/songwriters David Bromberg and John Prine.

The concert, which takes place at New Jersey’s Izod Center on October 3, already sports a star-packed lineup, including Gregg Allman and Warren Haynes of The Allman Brothers Band, Joe Walsh, John Mayer, Lucinda Williams, Mavis Staples, My Morning Jacket, Dierks Bentley, and more.  All net proceeds from the concert will help Helm’s estate keep ownership of his home, barn and studio, and to continue the “Midnight Ramble Sessions,” which Helm hosted and headlined in the last few years of his life. ”We are deeply moved that so many musicians and friends of Levon’s are coming together to celebrate his life and his music, and to help us keep his musical spirit and vision alive in the Midnight Rambles,” said Sandy and Amy Helm, Helm’s wife and daughter, in a press statement announcing the event. “We want to continue to honor his legacy by creating a musical landmark at the Barn, one that inspires and celebrates Americana music and its heritage.”

Helm’s original “Midnight Rambles” in the early 2000s were originally fundraisers so that he could afford to pay his medical bills and keep his barn and property, but they soon took on a life of their own, and became an attraction in their own right.

Helm passed away in April after a long battle with cancer.
