Is 80 The New 65?

Author: Dave Fuller

I was just talking to friends this weekend about retiring. How did that come up? Good question, I don’t remember! It seems like I know two kinds of people: Those roughly my age or even younger who’ve already retired. They talk about golf, trips and those tough Mondays on the boat. Jealous? Me? Darn right!

Then, I know people who are older than me and still working.

A lot of the people around my age who retired are mostly people who had a pension. Lucky! Us radio Gods don’t have that to look forward to, so you’ll be hearing me for a while yet!

That’s a good thing…right?

The people who are older than me who still work, even into their late 70’s, are working for different reasons. Some have a fun part time job just for something to do, or to keep busy, but others still put in 40 hours a week because they need to work to afford living expenses. My Mom is one of them.

How about you? Do you have a set age you’re thinking about calling it quits, or are you just going to work until you can’t? I love being on the radio, and I think I’d get bored if I retired now. But….radio until I’m 80? Are either one of us up to that? Haha….
