American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert makes a chart feat this week as the first openly gay artist to score a No. 1 album with his Trespassing, with fellow Idol alum Carrie Underwood, Adele, Tenacious D and Norah Jones rounding out the top five. But further down the line, a few classic artists make high debuts this week on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Santana‘s 36th album, Shape Shifter, makes its debut this week at No. 16 with 20,811 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The instrumental album particularly highlights the jazz and Latin-tinged stylings of legendary guitarist and band namesake Carlos Santana, though vocalists Andy Vargas and Tony Lindsay do lend their vocals on one song, “Eres La Luz.”

Willie Nelson follows Santana at No. 18 on the Billboard 200, with his Heroes album selling 16,898 copies in its debut week. Nelson’s album includes the country legend’s take on modern songs like Coldplay’s “The Scientist” and Pearl Jam’s “Just Breathe,” as well as “Roll Me Up,” Willie’s collaboration with Kris Kristofferson, country outlaw Jamey Johnson, and fellow famed marijuana enthusiast, rapper Snoop Dogg.

Lionel Richie is still going strong with his Tuskegee, which came in at No. 9 this week. The album, which features Richie dueting his biggest hits alongside country stars, has been all over the Billboard 200 top ten in the last couple months, including two weeks at No. 1 last month.

Even further down the line, Bonnie Raitt’s Slipstream comes in at No. 34 this week. Meanwhile, throwback rock revivalists Jack White (at No. 12 with Blunderbuss), Alabama Shakes (No. 30 with Boys & Girls) and the Black Keys (No. 40 with El Camino) keep the dream alive for the younger crowd.
