Have you done your spring cleaning yet? We’re in the process at the Schuman bungalow and we’re finding some really nice, gently used items like coats that we no longer need. So this week it’s my list of the Top 10 Charities to donate to after you’re finished with your spring cleaning. See if you agree with my choices.
This is a great time of the year and as you go about doing your spring cleaning it’s also a great time of the year to help your favorite charity. So this week it’s my Top 10 Charities list for your no longer needed items including coats, shoes, furniture, blankets, etc.
I’ve got to put the Salvation Army at the top of my list. They really do a lot to help people in Metro Detroit and we work with them closely at WOMC. Last Christmas season every, single WOMC air talent rang the Salvation Army bells at kettle locations at Detroit Metro Kroger stores. We also staged our 2nd Annual Santa’s Toy Castle drive. These are good folks.
Other worthy causes I’d suggest you consider when donating items this spring include:
- Vietnam Veterans of America
- Purple Heart
- St. Vincent de Paul
- Detroit Rescue Mission
- Covenant House
- Capuchin Brothers
- Dress For Success
- Jackets For Jobs in Detroit
Above and beyond the above great charities, if you’re in the mood to help others please consider donating money to Gleaners Community Food Bank. They are doing an unbelievable job of helping to feed hungry men, women, boys and girls in Southeastern Michigan. We at WOMC work closely with them and we have seen “up close and personal” the tremendous need. And an organization I’ve worked with for years is the Motor City Blight Busters. When you donate your car to this group of hard working people, you are helping to clean up the blight in Detroit one protect at a time.
Okay, which charities might you help after your spring cleaning is completed?
