Are you planning on a special meal for St. Patrick’s Day? Don’t tell me, let me guess. You’re cooking up corned beef and cabbage, right? Well that’s okay but there’s a lot more to the culinary aspect of the celebration than just those two things and the Community House will give you some great ideas tonight.

If you really want to dazzle your family and friends on St. Patrick’s Day, skip the corned beef and cabbage and whip up something really creative!

The Community House in Birmingham is conducting a special cooking class tonight focusing, of course, on traditional Irish recipes.

“Chef Pam” will be there to show you how to whip up such delicious meals as Guinness and Onion Soup with Cheddar Crouton. Or how about Black and Tan Pork with spicy Ale Slaw? But wait, there’s more! You’ll also learn how to make Irish slow cooked Potatoes with Thyme. And we can’t forget about dessert. Chef Pam Gustairs will demonstrate how to make a killer Sticky Pudding. My wife and I had that during a visit to Dublin and it was out of this world.

Sound good? Head to the Community House in Birmingham tonight at 6:30. You’ll spend two hours learning about Irish cuisine. The cost is $32 and you get to feast on the creations! The Community  House is located at 380 S. Bates in Birmingham. For more info, call them at (248) 644-5832. Enjoy!

And on St. Patrick’s Day be sure to drop by Duggan’s Irish Pub in Royal Oak and say hello to WOMC’s Jim Johnson. JJ will be there from 10am-3pm!
