Rolling Stones Postpone 50th Anniversary Tour Until 2013

[pullquote quote=”We look upon 2012 as sort of the year of conception, but the birth is next year.” credit=”Keith Richards”] There has been a lot of unconfirmed buzz of The Rolling Stones doing a tour this summer to celebrate their 50th anniversary but as winter thaws and major tours begin to be  announced there is a notable absence of reunion plans.

Keith Richards told Rolling Stone magazine; “Basically, we’re just not ready.”  The new goal is 2013. Richards adds; “I have a feeling that’s more realistic.”

It’s rumored Richards poor health contributes to the postponement. A top concert-business source suggests that it is likely the band will a plan multiple performances in single venues to avoid constant travel.

The band has been staying busy with new studio sessions and a working on a documentary with director Brett Morgen.

The band has not toured since 2007 and it looks like fans will have to hold out one more year. According to Richards 2013 is the real 50th anniversary;  “The Stones always really considered ’63 to be 50 years, because Charlie [Watts] didn’t actually join until January… We look upon 2012 as sort of the year of conception, but the birth is next year.”
