Ronnie Montrose, who formed the band Montrose with Sammy Hagar in 1974, died Saturday at the age of 64 after a 5 year battle with prostate cancer.  An American guitarist, Ronnie Montrose got his early start playing on Van Morrison’s 1971 album “Tupelo Honey”.  He then joined the Edgar Winter Group before forming his own band in 1973.  His most famous song, “Bad Motor Scooter”, was a staple of Detroit rock radio stations in the ’70’s and ’80’s.
