Mitch Ryder has published an autobiography! Devils & Blue Dresses: My Wild Ride as a Rock and Roll Legend was released on December 6, 2011 on Cool Titles.
The book follows the Detroit rockers long career including his experience with hits like “Jenny Take a Ride!” and “Devil with a Blue Dress On & Good Golly Miss Molly.”
To compliment the book, Ryder is releasing a new album! The Promise drops on February 14th in the U.S. and will be Ryder’s first American release since Never Kick a Sleeping Dog in 1983.
The Promise, produced by Don Was, was first released in Europe two years ago.
Freep.com reports Ryder will hold a CD release and book signing at Callahan’s Music Hall in Auburn Hills this Saturday, January 14, 2012 . He’ll perform an 18-song setwith the Detroit Wheels.
The “wild ride” subtitle isn’t just for show. Brian McCollum of the Free Press explains:
“The book, which includes images of old record contracts and memos, isn’t short on score-settling: Ryder reserves ample venom for his early managers and lawyers, who he says swiped his royalties while spurring his lifetime distrust of “the slime-laced … scam-artist music establishment.
The book lost more than 20 pages after it was previewed by a legal expert, and it was insured in case of lawsuits.”
