[photogallerylink id=93932 align=left] LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Jackson’s doctor is asking the courts to appoint him an attorney because he’s broke and can’t afford to hire a lawyer for his appeal. Dr. Conrad Murray says he’s unable to pay for an attorney to try to overturn his involuntary manslaughter conviction. Jackson had planned to pay Murray $150,000 a month, but Murray never was paid because Jackson died before signing a contract. Murray is due in court January 23 for a hearing to decide whether he should pay restitution to the Jackson family or foot the $1.8 million bill for Jackson’s funeral.
