Five to twenty million tons of debris from the March 11 tsunami in Japan is headed for Hawaii.

Yahoo News reports furniture, fishing boats, refrigerators and anything that floats is rapidly moving across the Pacific Ocean. The UK Daily Mail reports researchers tracking the wreckage estimate it could approach the U.S. West Coast within the next three years. It’s also reported the plumes of trash will travel back through the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and eventually hit Hawaii’s east coast.
