The Lions came through with flying colors last night on Monday Night Football.  The Tigers did not do so well down in Texas yesterday. And there’s bad news for Pistons fans this morning.

The Detroit Lions beat the Chicago Bears 24-13 at Ford Field last night on Monday Night Football on ESPN. Matthew Stafford threw two touchdowns and 67,861 fans cheered him on. That’s the biggest football crowd ever at Ford Field. And for the first time since 1956, the Lions are five and oh.

Down in Texas the Tigers weren’t so fortunate. The game went into extra innings in Arlington and Rangers slugger Nelson Cruz got a grand slam homer in the 11th inning to give the Rangers a 7-4 win over the Tigers. Game three of the series shifts to Comerica Park tonight at 8:05 with the Tigers down two games to none. Doug Fister will be on the mound for the Tigers.

And finally that bad news for Pistons fans. NBA Commissioner David Stern has decided to write off the first two weeks of the regular season. Players and owners can’t seem to agree on much of anything when it comes to money. If they get the season going two weeks late that would probably mean the first Pistons game would be on Tuesday, November 29th in Memphis. We’ll keep you posted.
